Why Family Gift?
This application was based on a personal need. I come from a rather large family (4 children, so 6 people with parents) and in fact, we work by list for Christmas and birthday events. Until today, we used Google Docs, it didn't work too badly. But the family has grown (partners, nephews, nieces, pets, etc.). Last Christmases, we found ourselves literally managing 16 Google Docs. If I personally had an idea to add to my wish list, I had to ask my sister, because I didn't have access to it since it was on this same document that everyone informed who was taking what. So I had the idea of making a simple and practical application, which could be used by everyone (including my 73-year-old father).
So, what is Family Gift?
Based on this observation above, I first developed a v1! It was damn ugly, but it worked. However, it was only available on Android. My sisters being on iOS, this version was unusable as is for us. As a result, this application is v2 of Family Gift! It is prettier, available on Android and iOS (and soon the web) and has many more features! You can create and complete your wishlist, add online shopping site links, etc. You can then join groups, which are just groups bringing together your loved ones. Thus, each member of your groups can view the lists of other members, and say if they wish to get a gift. And the other members of the group see if a gift is still available, except the person concerned! No more duplicates and no more lack of inspiration!
